Matt Zane is no stranger to controversy. Zane’s debauchery and high profile antics have landed him in just about every magazine ever published. After breaking into the adult film world in the late ‘90s, Zane quickly developed a name for himself by pioneering the alt-porn style and securing high profile musicians like Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, Papa Roach and Korn to appear in his films.

In addition to his contribution to the porn world, Zane is also the frontman of industrial-metal outfit Society 1. Zane’s onstage antics are legendary and during his group’s performance at the at the 2005 Download Festival he was suspended by meat hooks in his flesh in front of 60,000.

Zane has now returned to the adult world after a lengthy hiatus with Tattooed & Tight, a film that brings together tattooing and sex in a revolutionary way. Cast members Tera Wray, and a cast of unbelievably hot young starlets, get tattooed while engaged in an array of sexual debauchery. The footage was shot in a real tattoo shop Society 1 bassist Dirt, the same man responsible for inking Britney Spears, handling the tattoo gun.

Zane sat down with Deviant Nation to give us the scoop on this fantastic new series.

You took a hiatus from the adult film world to concentrate on music and now you’ve returned. What prompted your return?

It was really just a matter of survival. Society 1 was let go from Earache after an 18 country 40 state tour and we had nothing to show for our previous five years in the music industry except killer stories and a lot of great video (www.youtube.com/xstudioz). So I had to work and felt the adult video biz was a good place to make some money and continue to be surrounded by hot slutty chicks. Every man’s dream right? (Laughs) Really it was more about the money.

Who came up with the idea to combine tattooing and sex into an adult film?

When I approached the Pleasure family about a job, they asked me to come up with something that was in my trademark style. I thought of the idea in about two minutes. I can't believe no one thought of it before me. This whole alt porn thing is huge now and I am kind of the father to all that stuff so Pleasure thought it was a great idea. It makes sense because they own all my older stuff as well like Backstage Sluts.

The first question everyone wants to know when they hear the concept of the film is how you managed to keep the talent still while being tattooed?

It's not always easy but luckily no tattoos have been fucked up yet. Dirt (the tattoo artist) is great so he knows when to back off. He can anticipate movement.

You recently had high profile release parties for the film in LA and NYC; tell us a bit about both parties?

I wasn't at the one on in NY but LA was great. They actually had a billboard on Sunset Blvd in the Hustler window. It really blew my mind.

Did you ever expect there to be such a whirlwind of press over this film?

I thought there would be press but not this much; people seem really into it. All the girls tell me it really is a fantasy of theirs. I guess that explains why tattoo artists are always getting laid.

Give us a run down on your take on the adult film world now and how it’s changed in the past few years…

Well alt porn is huge and has developed into a genre. It used to be called my "trademark style" but now it's a genre. Very interesting how I was laughed at in the beginning, before when I had big music acts in my flicks it was a huge deal that I actually was able to get them to be in the movies. Now everyone goes to the awards shows like it’s no big deal. Gene Simmons, Criss Angel, Dave Navarro etc... People tend to forget that I was the first guy to get platinum selling acts in the videos. It's just so accepted. It was what I was shooting for back in the 90's when people thought I was out of my mind. The porn industry has become what I was shooting for since the start of my career. To bad a lot of people don't give me credit for it.

What’s next for Matt Zane and will there be a sequel to Tattooed & Tight?
