About Me: I am a 35mm junkie who needs to invest in a medium format camera as soon as possible. I love writing and being outdoors. I like my music loud and fast like the cars I dream of.

I enjoy laughter and how contageous it is.

I enjoy simple things. My feet are always moving and my mouth often follows their lead. I am loving if you let me... so let me.
Body Alterations: I've got my septum pierced and my ribs are fancied by a pumpkin patch and a tree that is as imperfect as the kinks in my spine. There's a roll of film inside my chest where my heart resides. You will find its strip flowing around my bones, waiting to be exposed. I want more.
Favorite Bands: 7seconds. Minor Threat. Bob Dylan. Against Me! Tiger Army. Crass. Social Distortion. Iron&wine. The Misfits. Dinosaur Jr. Bad Brains. Atmosphere. Felt. Living Legends. Caustic Christ. Whatever warms my heart and gets my feet moving.
Favorite Movies: Gia, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Easy Rider
Favorite Day of the Year: Halloween has my heart. Nothing but skeletons, zombies, and pumpkin loves.
Lifestyle: Vegetarian (six years now).

My day off yesterday was so good to me. I spent the day thrifting and antique shopping. I found this gorgeous mirror for $10. I got to spend the day with my darling Kelly and it was wonderful.

my body is rejecting my bridge piercing and i am so sad i want it forever. i dont want to take it out, but i also dont want to have this huge wart-looking thing coming out of it. it's not flattering and it's making me sad. any suggestions?

So for my birthday (which is this upcoming tuesday) I am asking for:
-a bongo drum for jam sessions
-baby gates so Lydia will stay out of the garbage cans in my kitchen and bathroom
-the sex and the city movie because i haven't seen it yet

The boyfriend is sweet and claims I'll get the items on my list. I am very easy to please. However, I am celebrating all weekend and well into the week because it makes me smile...and because everyone hates each other or has to come in from out-of-town.

I am buying myself finger symbols and a new corset for my birthday. I love feeling sexy.

that mirror is a freakin spectacular find!!!

in terms of your piercing, all my surface piercings have eventually rejected, so I guess I'm not the greatest person to ask =P

What kind of jewelry do you have in it?  From the picture it looks like a curved barbell...if thats the cause use a straight one.  I had mine for 6 years and constantly had problems with it.  It is a surface piercing and will never completely heal even though you may think it is.  Try hot compresses and sea salt.  And maybe get some techna care (sp?) and rub it on the bump on the outside.  Sometimes I'd rub a little on the bar and push it back and fourth to mix around inside, but not a lot, because it will dry it out and could cause more problems.

Or you could just pull it and repierce it behind the scar tissue.  However just know that bridge piercings tend to leave less than pretty scars.

It is indeed a curved barbell. I've started on the sea salt. Thank for your advice Arin I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. The woman at a local parlor suggested I just take it out....which is not what I was wanting to hear.

you're so damn good to me

Well pulling it and repiercing is probably the most realistic option, however I put up with a bitchy one for 6 years, so I'd first start with changing the jewelry and the soaks and see where that gets you. Glad I could help!

When I got my septum done, the man suggested using cotton swabs for cleaning... Now I hear this and wonder how misguided that man really was.

I think YOU'RE a cutie

shame on you aly you should have asked me about your bridge.  I've been a piercer for 3 years.

Some one suggested switching to a diferent type of jewelry and that can sometimes be the case.  I recomend using a plastic called PTFE.  It's the fancy name for teflon.  GOOD shops have this material.  It can be trimmed to fit what ever size need be and is lighter than metal which helps in preventing rejection aswell as is flexible meaning it won't put outward pressure on ur piercing.

u mentioned a warty growth which can be one of two things usually.  a folicular cyst which is just enflamed fluide filled tissue or a keloid which is scar tissue.
from the picture u posted it seems more like the cyst.

i recomend doing a chamonile tea compress on it.   its great for reducing inflamation and has shown to reduce some scar tissue production.  sadly the best measure for keloid removal is usually getting it cut off if it gets too bad.

sea salt is an astringent best used for pulling debris out of a piercing but may be added to the mixture.  it wont hurt but probably wont help.

another thing which is usually a HUGE no no for piercings is dabbing a little bit of peroxide on it 2 times a day.  and for any one who says im a bad piercer for saying that I read that from an Elaine Angel article.  Tell me she's wrong.

Call me up or drop me a line if u have any questions.

xoxo

PTFE is bad bad bad bad and I would NOT put that in a bridge.  You have to change it on a regular basis, because it will start to turn colors and wear away in your body if you don't.  It is not meant to be worn long term.  And because you have to change it so often it will just irritate an already irritated piercing more.

I use peroxide on everything hahaha.  Generally stay away from telling people not to use it because a lot of times people have issues with it...but thats what I'd use when I had mine pierced haha

PTFE is used to make artificial heart valves which are completely implanted inside people.  Not someplace doctors would put a material needing frequent changing.  It is incredibly well known for its biocompatability.  It's actually least likely out of all the body piercing materials to cause irritation.  But let's face it metal looks waaaaay cooler and is the piercees number one choice.  I prefer to combine a metal bead made for externally threaded barbells with PTFE satisfying everyone.

While I have seen some color change  on a few people It can usually be attributed to normal body residues like sebum and just not cleaning it well.  But that can happen with any kind of body jewelry I've never noticed any kind of iritation or jewelry erosion directly caused by the PTFE itself.  I've had people come back a year later with their same piece of PTFE still in place and never once had a problem.

Now I haven't used TYGON but I have read more than once that that needs frequent changing.  But that can still be every 3 to 12 months.  It can also be sold as the wrong version of TYGON as there are a few that shouldn't go in the body at all.   Are you sure thats not what your thinking of ?  PTFE is def the superior product as far as the plastics go and is def approved for long term use in the body.

If you have any resources for me to check out I'm def into doing my homework.  I just tried to find some my self and couldn't find any cases or even a slight mention.  Please keep me posted  Nothing is ever set in stone as far as body mods are concerned and we're all responsible for educating each other.
