I suppose someone had to start it.

The US swept the Women's Saber.

Yawn. NO offence, I come to DN so I don't have to read, watch or listen about the Olympics elsewhere!

I've never really gotten into the olympics. I do watch the WInter ones, but only because my husband is a retired figure skater. So he likes to watch and tell me what asshole/drunks/etc the coaches are.

I know there are those who don't much care for the Olympics, and I don't blame them really. But I am cheering for my cousin in swimming, and my friend in driving *waves little Canada flag*

One of the athletes (hammer throw) is from where I live.. and I went to junior high and high school with him. I'll be watching to cheer him on!

Actually, it's money well spent. The Olympics bring a huge economic boom to the community that hosts them. It's an economic positive.

It's China, thousands of people every year are displaced by rain. In this case, they actually got something out of it.

The Olympics 08.08.08 http://www.bbc.co.uk/monkeyolympics BBC Sport's marketing campaign and titles for the forthcoming Olympic Games are based upon the traditional Chinese folklore 'Journey to the West'. The animation and music were specially produced by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn (ala Gorillaz). I will say this is the possibly one good thing I have seen that has come from this years olympics.

MONKEY!!!!
