I edit my own pictures or the photographers edit them for me but recently I had someone send me a message saying they had edited one of my photos (which had been edited, watermarked, and posted by the photographer) and I look and it's horrible. Why do people think it's okay to fuck with other people's work without even asking? Not to mention make it look like total shit.

Boredom? I play around with peoples photos because I don't take photos. Sometimes they look good and sometimes I think I suck.

i do it a fair amount because i like to play with photos i like with photoshop sometimes when i should be working with photoshop instead. i don't usually ask first but i don't display anything very publicly without someone's say-so. there's not much privacy on the net.

I've had people steal watermarked photographs of me off a variety of websites and use them for their own promotion or edit them and display them as their work, etc. I think some people just feel like anything up on the internet is fair game for them to use in whatever way they want. I think playing around with peoples photos when you're bored is totally different then trying to just steal work from people and not give them credit. Or maybe some people that steal photographs don't think the people originally involved will see? ::shrugs:: who knows.

Also had a lot of really polite people ask to use and edit copyrighted and watermarked photographs as well.

What the model states above me is very true... It is a problem you have to face when you have photos on the net.

Did this "person" have permission to edit your photos, or he/she just picked one of your photos to just edit on and show it to you? If the person didn't have permission to edit them.. what they did was illegal.

This is why I want photoshop to cost 1 million dollars a copy. The world would be a better place.

People would still find ways to get it free like they already do now.

Certainly, and thus they haven't a clue how to use it. Being that it will cost one million dollars, people who illegally obtain it can be put to jail for a good chunk of their lives, I'm betting people won't want to rot in jail over a gif.

A whole bunch of art students would be going to jail then. I don't know anyone of my classmates who got Photoshop legally (including myself lol).
