Oh, and I'm making some of this bacon vodka right now.

Tell us how it is!

So, I made this for a friend for their birthday tonight. Had a shot and a few sips of it last night. It'll make a great vodka to use in a Bloody mary or a Dirty Martini. It smells of bacon, but not overwhelmingly. Also, I could taste a bit of a smoky flavor when I sipped it, but could taste more of the bacon when a took a full shot. A smoother vodka might help bring out the flavor more or possibly longer soak with the bacon. I'm going to have to check and see how long they soak vanilla to make vanilla extract and maybe gauge from that. I'm definitely going to try it again.

And for those that are curious, this is how I bottled it for my friend tonight.

That has got to be the coolest packaging . . . evar. What vodka did you use? Maybe I should pay you to make me some . . .

I broke a tooth today eating some most amazing bacon. It'll cost me $170 to fix, but its worth it. The bacon was homecured and amazing.

The vodka is Svedka. It was medium priced vodka. I may try a higher grade vodka for my next batch and hoping that'll bring out the bacon flavor better.

Thanks on the packaging. I spent forever looking for a bottle I liked and found the one I used at Ross. Alas, it was the only one they had, so my next bottle will probably be different. The label was last minute. I knew I was going to make a label for the bottle but was uncertain what to put on it. While talking to a friend about Jhonen Vasquez, I remembered GIR and his fascination with pigs (among other things) and thought he'd be great to put on the label.

Haha. I like that one's face on the end. Kind of like Mr. Bill. "Oh, no!"
