I'm getting more and more interested in what careers people have when they have modifications.
I am/was a youth worker and I can be tattooed, no problem. No policies against it as long as it isn't offensive in any way.

I want to apply to the London Ambulance Service and to do this I need to get my knuckles lasered which is no big deal to be honest.

So what level of coverage / modification do you have and what do you do as a job / career?

well right now i work at hot topic and have sleeves and a finger tattoo, which isnt a problem, but im getting a job teaching at a university, and from what i know its not a problem there either.

you can see in my set my level of coverage. i'm a massage therapist. i'm self employed. the only problem i have is if i get a new client, sometimes they're a little shocked but they usually get over it. when i worked for spas some wanted me to wear 3/4 sleeves to cover my tattoos. (forearms were not tattooed at the time.) others didn't care at all. it's so random and seems to be based upon the one person's views.

i'm starting school in a week to study fashion marketing and business management. i'm figuring that in the fashion industry i shouldn't have too many problems.

I work at a high end private financial institution dealing with high risk and politically exposed persons, and am client facing. I have sleeves, chest piece and visible tattoos on my legs feet etc. Saying that, when I meet with clients or intermediaries and third parties, I am suited and its all pretty much covered, bar a little poking out from my chest/wrists. At work, I'm lucky to have established myself there and have a good rapour with the big bosses to walk around dressed like a hobo and bare foot during the day haha.

I want to get my knuckles done but its not really an option for a few years. I might get them done in white while I am off on maternity leave, but I doubt it.

I work on the ambulance here in the US and have no issues with my tattoo's. We have several employee's that have sleeves. The job stopper for me would be to get my snake bites back or if I started to stretch out my ears. They look at them as a safety issues. All it take is one ass hole drunk and they would be ripped out.

I'm a roadie. My tattoos aren't a problem, depending on what show I'm working. Rock concerts, no problem. Disney stuff, I have to wear long sleeves. It is sometime a pain (especially on an outdoor gig) if I have to cover up, but hey, I love my tattoos and thats just what I have to do.

I am self-employed at this time, as a bondage/fetish model and a proSwitch. Honestly, the only problem that I have is bondage sites wanting me to look more like the "girl next door."

I've never understood why a kinky subculture is against girls who *gasp* look like they are into the subculture. Porn is a very odd business sometimes.

right now I work in a lame call center they dont care what you look like as long as you are clean
But my goal is to be a Cosmetologist and be that egdy chick thats very indie rocker style when I work at at a salon in the city.
I have no issues covering up my tattoos
I realize majority of the world suck and are no fun! hahaha

I kinda of go back and forth on "careers" I guess. I don't really think I've found my career yet. For the past several years I've gone between IT work and stripping and fetish modeling. I always seem to go back to a day job for a steady paycheck, so I don't need to stress about where my rent money is coming from. In the IT jobs I've had, some could care less (I worked on a federal government contract for SSA and could have tattooed my entire face for all they cared) and some care a great deal (I currently work for a ultra conservative property management company, so I'm in dress pants, button ups and dark knees highs with heels to cover up everything- also took out all facial piercings for this job).

With stripping and fetish modeling- depends on the club and the client. Tattoos and piercings usually aren't issues there.

Like Mayhem I too work in a call center. My boss gives me shit about my hair more than he ever gave me about my tattoos. I'm hoping the the bf gets his business working and self sustaining within the next year or so that way I can quit my job and get my hands tattooed.

I'm heavily tattooed and I'm a waitress and a bartender. I have to cover everything at Denny's but the bar doesn't care.

ha im a piercer and also a tattoo apprentice, couldnt imagine working anywere else. really would have though my tats would get in the way of me geting a "normal" job, glad to see it dosen't!!

has anyone else in here ever been told she couldn't model for someone before because of her mod's? just curious, its happened to me, and can get really annoying

I've had people tell me that they wouldn't shoot me due to my tattoos. I had one photographer ask me if it'd be ok if he photoshopped them out of the pictures he took. He really didn't want to offend me. It was cool because he asked.

My future sister-in-law however is crazy. Because of me the bridesmaids can't have long dresses and she forbids me to get any more tattoos until after the wedding, in August of 2010. She doesn't want tattoos in the photos.

It's all shenanagans....

That actually happened once to me as well, but I guess I could understand since it was for a body as an art form project and they needed very minimal body art...which honestly I thought I had, apparently not. Oh well.
