Hey all,

Last tuesday I had two bowties tattood on my lower back, in bright yellow and green. I looked after the tattoo with care, although the healing proces lasted longer then usual. It seems now that the colors are as good as gone! The outlining still looks perfect tho, but you can barely see the colors anymore! It looked fine when I first got home with it, but now that its pealing the colors just are...as good as gone (no, I haven't been picking it..hehe)
I called my tattoo artist, and he's pretty sure its not an allergic reaction or anything...

Has anyone had this before? Do you knwo what the problem may be? Seriously, any help is welcome...

Just because its pealing doesn't mean it has healed! Wait until it stops flaking/pealing and then some. My tattoos when healing always look a bit pale at first because the skin is so new. For instance, brand new skin on me, that has been tattooed black looks almost silver, colours are extremely dull or pale.

Let your skin settle down and back to normal for another few weeks, and if in doubt, then go back to see the tattooist.

thanks! I just never had a colored tattoo (all of them black) and was really worried the colors disappeared. I'll take your advice and wait it out

Ah then definitely don't panic!! Once it has healed, talk through any concerns you have with the person that tattooed you. If you think you need a touch up, they should be able to confirm/comply :D

yeah when I get color pieces, it always looking like huge chunks of colors are coming out when its peeling, but always looks pretty when its finished I'd wait it out a few days and see how it looks then

The first time I got my chest piece done the color wouldn't take. The color just looked really faded. The guy even touched it up for me after it healed and it still came out looking really faded and crappy. Several months later I went to someone else and she fixed it up for me and now the colors are really bright, just how I wanted them to be. It might just be that you have a bad tattoo artist.

I get what your saying, I just got my first bigger piece with color (my biggest piece right now is just an outline) and when I was watching it heal I started freaking out caused it looked horribly faded and then come to find out I still peeled another round and now it's still just as bright as the day he put it on there...mind you I've only been fully healed for a week. haha.

i get that too. i'm very fair-skinned so new, healing skin looks all washed out and shiny for a few weeks. give it time. and yellow seems to be tough for me too. i have two yellow bows as well--you can see 'em in my set. they had to be gone over about three times before they looked that good. my skin is very thin & sensitive so doing it in sessions like that really made it better.
