Lip piercings have a tendency to continue to swell for the first two weeks. It will mellow out. Make sure you aren't over cleaning it as that can tend to irritate it more. Instead of using saline, try just soaking your lip in a cup of hot water, that always helped me out. I wouldn't worry about the swelling, it will go down in time. You have a lot of movement in your lip so it tends to take a while to heal. Also when cleaning with soap, make sure you aren't twisting the jewelry around or anything, just clean the outside area and leave it that. And when you swish with mouth wash, use half mouthwash, half water, so its not so potent...

Taking the hottest water I could handle in a shot glass and sealing it around the piercing always helped me with the pain. Wish I still had mine |

if you have a health food store near you go get some arnica and take that. it's a homeopathic great for swelling, aches & pains, etc. get the tablets and not the topical stuff. or i guess you could do the topical but don't get it on the actual piercing. just go far enough around it so as to not touch the jewelry, wound, etc. but the tablets work great too.
and post some photos when the swelling goes down!

ok as a piercer we advice ppl to stay away from like 4 things if they have any oral piercing for the first 4 weeks, 1: any alcohal with yeast in it which would be larger cider, and guiness, but any other alcohal is fine. 2: dairy products, although there pasturised they stil have alot of bacteria in it. 3: no oral contact, which would be kissing, licking or sucking 4: dont use mouthwash, too many chemicals after that it should heal if you refrain from touching it with out washing your hands, and you can use a solution of sea salt and water to drag out any infection.
don't use drugs, no point for your lip, we'd only advice that in extreme cases with the tongue
